Could it be that Safari is more picky about the format in which the aspectRatio has to be specified, and doesn't understand the N / M notation?
It is still very strange, as we are dealing with a property of the board itself, and we see an effect of that property in the parent element. This is not supposed to happen, other than with the margin property.
Weird things like this often happen when HTML is created on the page later.
