I have changed the serif font from Literata to STIX Two Fonts. For legibility on a computer screen, I wanted a font with less contrast between thin and thick strokes. Using an extension to try out different Google fonts, Charis SIL was in the lead for a while, but I eventually picked STIX Two Fonts. As a Transitional font, it still has both thick and thin strokes, but it has a little less contrast between them. Its other advantages are as follows:
With its shorter character height, there seemed to be a little more space between lines, and I found the reading of text to go by more quickly and more comfortably.
Its shorter character height also increased the number of lines on the page.
It lacks distracting characters that could slow down reading.
Since the text looked fainter in light mode than it had in dark mode when I was making my initial selection, I changed the weight of regular text from its default, which would be 400, to 500.
