It seems the cond operation is the culprit. I got in in this context:

set a (K);
set b (k);
set c cond 1 #a #b;
printr c;

This prints a scalar K. And to top that:

set a cond 1 (b c) (d e);

gives me the array (c b)! That seems taking right-to-left evaluation of expressions a bit too far.
