The problemists' Sawtooth board by appearances laying claim to a cv within a cv by design. Betza's Rectahex is not actually saw-toothed, which linked Nested Chess here has comment about. Instead Betza is just representing hexagons, or complete hexagonal movement in the Rectahex interpretation and orientation, by diamonds which lead more aesthetically to squares (see Rectahex). http://www.chessvariants.org/index/displaycomment.php?commentid=22222
