Looks like good game. I don't know how original, though. Hasn't something very similar already been done? And if was me, I would include z2z7i2i7 pawns, if no other reason than looks like they should be there.

I'm sure there are many variants that include the Cannon and/or Vao among Western pieces. I mention two of them in the introduction above. The variant Yáng Qí for example, which is of course more ambitious than mine. I don't know of any, however, that use the Morley-shaped board.

And Pawns might look nice on those squares, and I indeed tested the game with them, but they allow the Canoness/Bishop pairs to attack them almost immediately, which I think hampers opening play.

I played just one game and I think it's very good. It is a logical and well balanced combination of pieces and gameplay is interesting. Games do not have to be original. Games have do be designed for getting played, that's all.
