You should define separate pieces, with and without the sideway move, and then promote the latter to the former when it reaches 5th rank trough a morph.

Lev Grigoriev wrote on Fri, Feb 23, 2024 01:04 PM UTC in reply to H. G. Muller from 12:10 PM:

I don’t know how to embed morph. It is probably not enough to write just morph, but something else.

H. G. Muller wrote on Fri, Feb 23, 2024 02:19 PM UTC in reply to Lev Grigoriev from 01:04 PM:

Well, it is explained here. Just write morph=... on the line after the one that defines the piece, with ... a FEN-like representation of the board, indicating on which squares it promotes to what.

Lev Grigoriev wrote on Sun, Oct 6, 2024 02:57 PM UTC in reply to H. G. Muller from Fri Feb 23 02:19 PM:

Please help. Where to write morphing, after which line and with which symbols, after or before, I should embed it? https://www.chessvariants.com/play/pbm/play.php?game=Different+Pawns+Random+Chess&settings=diffpawnrandom-coded&submit=Edit

H. G. Muller wrote on Sun, Oct 6, 2024 05:55 PM UTC in reply to Lev Grigoriev from 02:57 PM:

Why would you need morphing for this variant? This is just a number of pawns all promoting in the same way in a regular zone, right?

Diceroller is Fire wrote on Sun, Oct 6, 2024 07:23 PM UTC in reply to H. G. Muller from 05:55 PM:

Xiangqi pawn.

H. G. Muller wrote on Sun, Oct 6, 2024 07:33 PM UTC in reply to Diceroller is Fire from 07:23 PM:

Ah, I see. Define different Pawns for each side of the River, and if X is the piece ID of the fsW type write on the line below the definition of the fW type morph=X/X/X/X (meaning it morphs into X on the furthest 4 ranks). Then convert the Diagram definition to GAME code.

All is cool, but I master GC preset.

Are you the inventor of Chinese Chess with Archer?

Hi! Yes I am.

Good! But Archer must stand adjacent to the king (e2,e9). https://www.chessvariants.com/play/pbm/play.php?game=Chinese+Chess+with+Archer&settings=def1

Vitya Makov wrote on Fri, Apr 11 08:53 PM UTC in reply to HaruN Y from Thu Mar 13 08:29 AM:

Nice! Is there possibility to add this preset to Game Courier, to play vs another player?

HaruN Y wrote on Sat, Apr 12 01:41 AM UTC in reply to Vitya Makov from Fri Apr 11 08:53 PM:

Didn't you just post a link to it?

Vitya Makov wrote on Sat, Apr 12 11:54 AM UTC in reply to HaruN Y from 01:41 AM:

It is not rules enforced. "Uncoded. No rules enforced. No legal moves displayed."

H. G. Muller wrote on Sat, Apr 12 12:13 PM UTC in reply to Vitya Makov from 11:54 AM:

If you want to convert an Interactive Diagram to GAME code, it would be better to start with a Diagram that enforces the piece confinement through a morph. This is supported in the generated GAME code. I am not even sure whether off-board legs are supported by it. But even if they are, the moves as defined in the current I.D. would make the preset very slow.

Daniel Zacharias wrote on Sun, Apr 13 04:22 AM UTC in reply to Vitya Makov from Sat Apr 12 11:54 AM:

I think it would be easier to modify the Chinese Chess code (like I did for Modern Chinese Chess) than to use the game code generator. It's just adding one new piece

Archer
Dragon
Sparrow
Maorider
