I'm seeing this error
Syntax Error on line 287
A variable name should not begin with a digit.

could you add Duke of Rutland's Chess to the nominations? That has to qualify I imagine

that works, thanks

The Secret Intelligence Chess invitations do not work. If I try to look at one it says I need to be signed in to view it.

Odin's Rune Chess is in ChessV.
Some other games, such as Ajax Chess, would be easy to define for ChessV also. Would making the game definition available here be enough to count as strong ai?
Some more potentially qualifying games that are included in ChessV or Ai Ai, or both:
- Alekhine Chess
- Sac Chess
- Northern Ecumenical Chess
- Unicorn Great Chess
- Great Shatranj
- Lemurian Shatranj
- Shako Balbo
- Xhess
- Apothecary Chess Classic
- Duke of Rutland's Chess
- Wildebeest Decimal Chess
- Jumping Chess
- King's Color

I'm seeing the Tokin having the same image as the Pawn in the interactive diagram

I knew it wasn't great but I didn't realize it was that bad

Now when I try to move in any game other than secret intelligence chess it says You may not move one of your opponent's pieces or similar
Does this work?
def White_Elephant checkleap #0 #1 2 2 or and checkaleap #0 #1 0 -1 empty where #0 0 -1;
def White_Elephant-Range mergeall leaps #0 2 2 where #0 0 -1;
def Black_Elephant checkleap #0 #1 2 2 or and checkaleap #0 #1 0 1 empty where #0 0 1;
def Black_Elephant-Range mergeall leaps #0 2 2 where #0 0 1;

Why have three cats instead of sticking with the original material?

This game is showing a problem with castling. The king disappears. The same problem happens in other presets I made using the same castling. I'm sure it was working before
This looks like a problem with betza.txt, so you'll have to wait till H G Muller looks at it

Ok, it does make sense if it's meant to be playable using a McCooey's Hexagonal Chess set. But the point of Arimaa using standard chess equipment is that everyone already has it.

Duke of Rutland's Chess

Since that game I mentioned appears to be missing, the problem is that in games where the king castles onto the rook's location, the king disappears when castling.
Can a game really be balanced with such a numerical disparity?

I'm not able to view any game where it's my turn

I'll add seconds for Balbo's Chess, Elk Chess, and Three Check
What do they need?

A similar idea would be that capturing some piece gives your opponent an extra move. I once tried to play chess like that but it was unclear if it worked well or not. It might be interesting to apply these concepts to weaker pieces.

This (and the original Heroes) are some of my favorite variants. The hexagonal board allows, or even suggests, different kinds of pieces than square grids. Instead of relying on the orthogonal/diagonal distinction, we can have, coherently, pieces that all move on the same lines but have other differences.
There are some things that are questionable about this variant. There could have been two camels and two guards instead of one and three; and the camel could have some extra ability to differentiate it from the chariot. I also wonder if Heroes 1's hole in the center might make for more interesting gameplay than the full board found here.
It would be nice if all the diagrams used the proper board size. Was there some consideration of using a 127 hex board? I also found the pawn description hard to interpret regarding the ability of the pawns to move to the side without capturing. I had to look at the sample game to be sure that was intended.
Still, this is a great idea!

When I try to open this game it shows an error saying
ILLEGAL: P f3-f5 on turn 1:
There was no P on f3. It is an empty space.
The game has no rule enforcement at all so it seems like it should work

How does Chak not qualify?
I'll add a nomination for Duke of Rutland's Chess
