There are 17 boards with no legal first move for White. This comment will
lop off board 5, but the other dozen can be viewed scrolling back at
''all messages'' above. The link-back should be added for before 25 comments. I welcome anyone to find an error. I believe White cannot move piece or Pawn in any of the 17 starting set-ups. They were fun and not so easy; moreover, Sam Loyd and T.R. Dawson never tried the theme of complete immobilization from the outset or denouement or anywhere. 13.July.2007 is the last one relevant. Appearing 12.July.2007, number 16 just before it draws on all the big guns: Winther, Gilman, Knappen, and Betza.

So specifically in the above board 16 (of the 17 total) appear Winther's Provoctor and Dimaecher, Gilman's Flamingo, Knappen's Quintessence, Betza's Rose, and Stiles' Wolf.  Gilman has named most long-range leapers and is catalyst for other pre-existing ones' currency in usage like Flamingo. Bifurcation pieces of Mats Winther are awesome for chess-variant problems, presenting bewildering arrays of interactions.
