The Pawn on the other hand is the one piece with adjusted movement ability: it captures normally but now it moves two squares forward without capturing and can jump over an intervening piece. This means of course that Pawns must be blocked from two squares away, not one. One interesting result of the landslide effect is that Pawns in many cases will defend each other side-by-side instead of in the traditional Pawn chain.
