I shouldn't need this, or at least didn't until I got an offer to
(more or less) mirror these pages or some of them.
Everything in my pages is copyright by me, and
- If you use it in a non-profit way you must get permission
(I won't refuse; it's a formality) and give credit.
- If you use it to make money you must get
permission (and I'll be reasonable!) and give credit.
It is possible to copyright the expression of an idea, but it is not
possible to copyright an idea. For example, the rules of
Taxi Chess are the expression of
the idea of chess-with-metered-moves, and you cannot cheat the
copyright by using those rules and explaining them in different
words.
For example, it would be both wrong and illegal to
do a commercial or shareware program for
Trapdoor Chess
without my consent.
